HIGH VOLUME

Dents of Karachi were subjected to collection in the fashion Pakistan week-2 which showcased autumn/winter 2010 collections by over 50 designers although, surprisingly, this fashion week failed, on an overall level, to churn out as overall level., to churn out as much creative Talent as the previous one, some Promising trends managed to seep through the collections.

PLEATS

Pleating reintroduced itself to the Pakistan fashion scene roughly two years ago, but this time around it took on a life of its own. With feeha jamshed of tee jays showing fine pleating in several aspects of her collection in Lahore February 2010, it was Zaheer abbas, in fashion Pakistan week-2, who made it into a predominant feature of his collection. It was also a defining theme in Rizwanulla had it as a feature in his the collection for nishat lawn that was collection as did designer Deepak designed by maheen khan and ather Perwani. Hafeez Fine pleating is done in a manner that it ends up becoming a part of the fabric itself: thus giving a sleek shape to the outfit become a little tricky. Not to worry since nowadays carrying volume is quite in vogue.

VOLUME

Trends have change as far as this one is concerned. Volume has been a predominant feature in the local fashion circle for some time now, having come into full swing from the khaadi khas show in june 2009. This year, volume was dominant in the year, volume was dominant in the umar sayeed sadequain collection. Tia noon’s collection for the house of kamiar rokni also had several pieces that displayed volume as did fazia Samee’s work on the ramp. Although popular with designer, volume is often criticized for taking away femininity from the female from.

DROP PANTS

If boy brown can do it in the 80s so can we today. A dominant feature in global fashion trends last year, ather hafeez and Syed Rizwanullah introduced element of this trend in their shalwars in November 2009. This time round the drop pants have made their debut on the ramp in full from Rizwanullah had it as a feature in his collection as did designer Deepak Perwani.

DHOTI SHALWAR

Meheen khan has been a patron of this style for same time now and it showed in the collection she put out on the ramp as well. In the past two fashion week however, it’s seen a massive resurrection. Yousuf bashir Qurashi was one of the designer who attempted to reintroduce this concept in both of his previous collection (December 2009 and February 2010). Shakeel chand saigol also patronized this style and his collection carried this shalwar in full from. The good part about this trend is that it looks chic and is a definite inclusion if you want to add a unique touch to your wardrobe. The downside is that it’s tricky to wear and can often reveal a lot more skin than you might have bargained for.
